Keeping chickens (…chooks) is great. We have three – Carrots, Peas and Chips, who live in our front garden. They live in a home made arc, its a good size and they get fresh grass when we move the arc each week. Now its winter our front garden is looking less green and more like we are keeping pigs, but the neighbors don’t mind. The chooks are happy with fresh straw on the ground, a bail (£3 from the local farm) lasts three changes. Being January, the egg production has slowed down – we thought it had stopped recently, until we found a good stash in a corner of their house, just out of sight! Bright yellow crepes for breakfast tomorrow, yum.
