More Beer!

Small breweries are popping up all over the place in Cornwall – which is brilliant.   A 100 years ago the Blue Anchor became so popular with local tin miners that they were paid their wages at the bar, and they have been brewing Spingo (meaning strong beer in Old English) since the 15th Century.  The brewery is located at the back alongside the old skittle alley, and its history is checkered with Landlords being stabbed to death (1717), recieving head injuries from a bayonet during an argument with two soldiers (1791) and even hanging themselves in the Skittle Alley(1849).
